    Hi, I am just new to the forum and am I am thinking of changing to a B8 A4. The question is TFSI v TDI?
    I drive one, sometimes two, six mile runs a day and the odd motorway run once a month (around 8 - 9k a year). I have read a few posts around DPF problems on the A4 and also the posts re oil consumption in the Tfsi

    I have been driving a 2009 Touareg 3.0 Tdi V6 Altitude for the past 18 months with no DPF problems (now 48k miles on the clock).

    On the B8 A4, can the DPF problems appear at any time with low mileage, or, is it a problem after 30, 40, 50k?

    Any advice / thoughts on above and Tdi v Tfsi much appreciated.

    You shouldn't have a problem with the DPF doing those sort of runs.

    It's all about heat burning off the soot, so maybe once a week drive in 1 year lower (maybe 4th) on your 6 mile run and it will allow the revs to generate heat and burn off the excess and keep it clear.

    In 31k driven over the past year, I've only had a faulty DPF sensor which was replaced under warranty.

    They don't seem to happen at any particular mileage, just one of those things.
