Hi guys, please don't flame me for posting this here! I'm at my wits end trying to get a definitive answer. In a nutshell, does anyone know if any RS4 flywheels will fit an Audi ABZ V8?

I've been trawling the internet for days now, and emailing loads of people. Unfortunately the few that replied were less than helpful and won't give me the dimensions of the flywheels they stock (instead stating that if I give them the registration they will tell me if it will fit - I don't have a registration and all they will do is check whether its an RS4 anyway, which it is not). The ABZ was from an auto, and it doesn't appear anyone has put an RS4 flywheel on it, but its a rare conversion so it doesn't surprise me!

What I have at the moment is a 10 bolt plate, 290mm across, with two rows of teeth. Starter ring and 60-2 ring. Since I don't have an RS4 or ever gone near one I need to see what they look like - google images is the answer - and on the surface half of the results look the same, with the same two rows of teeth and 10 bolts. The other half don't have the 60-2 ring and are 8 bolts. I *think* that the B7 is the one with 10 bolts thats a match.

    rs4 flywheel - Google Search

I would really appreciate guidance from someone who maybe has one to hand, or has done before, and can tell me the dimensions. The alternative is a flywheel from 034 motorsport but its pricy.

Nope no registration, just an engine. Hate to disagree with the first reply :P but they don't lost parts that will fit, they just read them from a part catalogue that Audi supplied. What I mean is Audi will say this part is for this car but don't list the 100s of parts that will fit but weren't designed for the application.

In any case my reg was for a car only available in auto so Audi will NEVER list a manual flywheel , even though I know of at least one genuine flywheel that will fit. Hence the post!

    Thanks

nope, the rs4 flywheel- depending which model (!) has an 8 bolt patter whilst the v8 has a 10 bolt pattern. You can try the flywheel off a 3.0 tdi manual gearbox...You bought the red audi v8 project car off ebay ?

Yeah thats what I struggle with. Especially hard because any dealer wants a reg before they can tell me the specs, and I don't have an entire fleet of Audi's to take apart and inspect. Some guy I found informed me that the ~1996 S8 came in manual and is 10 bolt but only in mainland Europe so I'm following that up. Else I have a few options, all of which reqire more thought.

And no didn't buy the red audi project off ebay, I should have been specific, its Audi motor/Audi gearbox going in a toyota (you may already know where this is going).

First time I've come public, even anonymously. That pic was back in December after I got the engine running on a stand using an aftermarket ECU. So I'm way on with it and 85% confident of finishing it - I know only a few people have done it before and I can see why, financially it makes no sense but I did budget for the expensive bespoke stuff. I'm almost done, just need to sort the drivetrain out and a few other little niggles to fabricate.

    Thanks for your help.
