I've been having a few problems with the symphony unit in my car for some time and have been looking for a solution in the form of an iPod compatible unit as I dont listen to the radio but play music from my iPhone.
Anyway I saw a Pioneer SPH-DA100 AppRadio which basically gives you control over the iPhone with GPS etc.
My post here is to say that Halfords have them on offer at £199 which is about £80 cheaper than I've seen anywhere else.

    Just thought I'd share.

Fitting it might be a problem though but I'll give it a go.

I opted for the 'connects 2' solution. It connects to the cd changer part of your head unit and then straight into ipod/iphone via a small control unit. It's been a great little bit of kit.

Yes I had one fitted but it started to play up, working intermittently, and now doesn't work at all. Hence the app radio.

Hi, i have the app radio in my a6, all works ok most of the time, i have handbrake bypass which is a pain now as you need to flick a switch and not just ground it, i had to get a wiring adaptor harness and an ariel booster, apart from that it was not too bad to fit, has allsorts on it via phone , sat nav, video, itunes, not too many apps for it thought. when it does play up its easy to just reset, does take about 20 seconds to fully power up which is not too fast either. hope this helps. Sean

    Hi Sean
I read somewhere (internet so maybe not so reliable) that UK models can be just grounded whereas US models need a switch. Is this not the case?
I was thinking of fitting a rear camera, did you find a wire need the headunit that would serve?

i have rear camera on mine ( about £15 off ebay) you just need a normal video lead, i run the live feed to the switch i use to fiddle the handbrake, you need a simple 4 way switch, it did work with the lead grounded at first but i have done all the firmware updates on mine and it all changed, i have a couple of spare switches if you need 1, i have phone in the armrest and the switch in the litte space next to the handbake, its hardly noticeable. Sean.

just to add, i think the camera came with the video lead, LED reg plate light and camera in one, you just remove your old reg plate light. took a bit of fitting but wasnt too bad. Sean.

Thanks for that Sean, it sounds like you have yours set up the way I want mine. I'll take you up on your offer of the switch thanks. I'll PM you.
