    hi.i have a vw golf 1.6 16v 2002 azd motor.my problem is that the motor spent to much oil.it spend 1l oil for 1000 km.what i should do ihave used all types of oils and no result.i have cleaned the breather pipe,the same result

    These engines do use some oil but that seems a little high. Is it leaking or burning oil?

    it burn one liter oil for 1000km.it has no leaking.

    no smoke.but i think is the high mileage.i wont to repair the motor,change all the parts needed.what do you think or should i buy a used motor.

    If the engine is ok you might try a rebore and a new set of rings and valve seals, a new engine wouldn't be cheap and unless you buy reconditioned I don't think it would be a viable option. Would you do the work yourself? A cheap known good engine maybe from a crashed car would be good if you could get one.

    I would also say to check the oil breather system, since it tends to get clogged and/or deteriorates and malfunctions. I have a 1.6sr with more than 300.000km which was consuming oil (no blue smoke, nothing). I cleaned and replaced one part on the oil breather system and the oil consumption completely disappeared. It is running relatively short runs everyday, which is the worst conditions for oil consumption and I do not add any oil between changes (10.000km).

    i have cleaned the breather system.i changed set of rings,16 valveseals,16 guide valves.new oil.now the car is ok.i have made 15.000 km 0 consuption oil.
