Hi folks, this little error is probably all my making, but here goes !

I was toying with the idea of adding / coding my NS passenger door module to attempt the mirror dip on reverse. Nothing too bad I thought,

Original coding was 3706, so added 128 ( and kept a copy under VCDS ).

As expected, not much happended when I closed the controller & selected N/S mirror switch adjust... and went to reverse

oh well, scanned VCDS, had a few odd errors ( module intermittent comms ).

anyway, cleared down the DTC, then went into OUTPUT tests ( noting my car never had folding mirrors, the button isn't even there on my armrest ! )

The VCDS then did a mirror sweep & one of the sequential tests was the folding option.

Naturally I exptected this NOT to work, as there's no damn motor etc..

No errors on VCDS at this point...

Gave up with the mirror dip coding option, recoded the module to 3706 and did a scan....

Odd code now throws up & I can repeat this on the d/s module !

Electric motor short to earth fault ??!!? Can't remember the code, but how can this be, there isn't even a motor / switch & the car now reports a static fault ?

Has anybody ever seen this before ?

It doesn't affect the operation of the mirrors etc but the codes seems to appear if you allow VCDS to select the folding mirror check ( EVEN if you car hasn't got this option, which mine don't ).

Any idead as to how to reset / remove this error from the memory, as it keeps on coming back...

    Cheers

If you go into the program directory of rosstech on your computer there is a text file which shows all the changes you made so you can revert to factory again.

Input the original code then clear all codes using the application menu on the start screen of vcds and press clear all dtc's.

Thanks Chris, i'll have a look, must admit, after fitting and coding my AMI to the car, this seems so odd to have made a mess with a simple reverse dip project !

Surely though, the original code of 3706 should suffice if i put this back into coding menu ?

I would get the original coding just to be sure.

Remember mirror dip will only work with a combo of folding mirrors and or electric seats.

    quick update

all good, and sorted ! Lesson to be learned here is, don't play with VCDS !

I went into applications, and this is the bit i never noticed it before, I refreshed the gateway list, then cleared down the DTC, redid a auto-scan, NO ERRORS....

    phew....

I never usually go into the App menu, but it seems to retain the errors, even if you navigate to the same menu via the Module selection panel... odd.

Either way, it's sorted, but I did have one success, which was to turn off that annoying seatbelt chime rubbish !

I never drive without a seatbelt EVER.
