I'd be happy with them figures. Using the numbers off my service sticker, Audi think I can get the following out of my 1.9tdi sport:

    Urban - 7.7 litres/100km = 37mpg
    Out of town - 4.8 litres/100km = 59mpg
    Combined 5.8 litres/100km = 49mpg

If we lived in a world with no air or rolling resistance then yes! Audi recently got a slap on the wrist when a customer complained that his new A3's quoted figures were just not attainable.

Didn't have a problem with mine but did the Mr Muscle anyway. Stained the floor under the exhaust with a big patch of soot so it cleaned something out! Also, if you have a registered version of VCDS or VCDS Lite there is an engine "health check" you can run (engine, output test, i think) which repeatedly moves the actuator arm under vacuum so you can get eyes on and observe if it's sticking.

Update: last brimmed tank 560miles, 64 litres to refill to the brim = 40mpg over the tank. Pretty happy with that but theres still something not quite right.... can't put my finger on it but it's just not as quiet and smooth as my AWX engined passat was....

Have you tried changing the O2/Lambda sensor?

If this is clogged up this could also cause incorrect figures to go to the ecu which then mucks up the fuelling?
