after a short journey and a 1 hour stop the car would not start, lots of cranking and it did start and ran fine ,on retuning home i stoped the engine and it was very reluctant to start again.checked for fuel,ok.checked cam sensor and crank sensor, both seem ok.cold starting is ok and no loss of performance also no dtc's.previous dtc a few weeks ago was brake light switch, which was working fine, cleared the code and all is still ok.

ive just been reading other hot start problems, found a few interesting things,ie(disconect fuel temp plug) also same for water temp plug, although temp reads ok and is fairly new, also it is only the 2 wire one .does his feed the ecu as well as the guage ?.thanks.

the fuel filter is prety new,i will check ing feed to the relay, crank sensor seems to test ok,also i asume as the rev counter is fed from this and this is working that would indicate the crank sensor is ok.thanks for your input.
metalmicky10 .checked fuel temp and water temp today(thursday),disconecting either made no difference to hot starting as advised elswhere, put resistors accross fuel temp plug and water temp plug to fool the electrics into thinking the engine was cold, still poor hot start.Fitted a new cam sensor ,it would not start at all,put the old one back ,cold start ok, hot start bad .I remember a few years ago a friends ford having the same trouble which turned out to be the crank sensor failing when hot.I have got 450 ohms hot or cold on the crank sensor.

I took the starter off on tuesday 19th as it was groaning under the struggle to start from hot, gave it a bit of service bolted it all back together fired it up and stood listening and checking scope readings for something wrong (nothing showed up as working temp was reached),then pop sounded like the (egr) had poped shut, was it stuck open ?.I removed it gave it a good clean, second time in 2 years, tested it was working (yup ok).put it all back together ,fired it up ran it up to temp' stopped it left it minute tried it (hot start). "f i x e d" i think, better touch some wood, would this have prevented hot starting if it was stuck open?
