I've read somewhere and heard from a mechanic that it is possible to reset the learn mode of my A6 - i.e. start from scratch on how the ECU has interpreted my driving style (and the previous owners driving style).
This seems to be done after a gearbox oil change sometimes but I didn't do it after my oil change.

Is this possible to completely reset the gearbox/ECU so that it starts to "re-learn" and if so, is there any set of steps to complete the reset?

P.S. I want to do this to try to fix an annoying lag when I floor it taking off from junctions. But also so that I get a fresh start and it re-learns the way I drive.

Here is a detailed post on how the adaptation drive is done.. Link:- Tiptronic oil change ! - Page 2

Post 15 of that thread also have some reference to the fuzzy logic...

In this post is a PDF it states a manual method of putting gearbox adaptation on earlier A6's in Link:- ZF 6HP19A tiptronic gearbox (A6 3.0 TDI Quattro)

There maybe a way for VCDS to place gearbox in adaptation mode...

I was tempted to do this on mine after I had gearbox oil change but thought it drives better not worse so left it alone...

The lag you are talking about I did used to experience that... the new MAF & cleaning the coked up EGR inlet into throttle body adapter eliminated that for me...

Seems very complicated. Reckon it's doable by a dabbler like me?

I intend to clean the EGR valve too myself.

    That's what worried me ...

I also didn't then fancy taking it to a garage and them doing it after I mucked it up to find I'd actually created a problem and perhaps they may not do it in such detail as required...

My best idea was to practise doing the adaptation drive without the gearbox in adaptation mode, which in turn would help me assess an ideal location to do the drive... ie a trading estate with no traffic at night?

One thing I noted when I had oil change done on mine was that Dialynx were hesitant to really toy with a non issue gearbox...

I only had oil change due to having timing chains done, when gearbox is separated from engine some transmission oil is lost...

So it made sense to have oil change as labour was not gonna increase but just additional costing of oil...

As some what comms become deteriorated between me & them near the end of the job I never asked if they did the adaptation drive...
