Stutter at start up??

Hi Guys,

Over the past 8 months or so, I've noticed a stutter / miss at start up. (2.0 tdi BKP - 2006 - injectors and loom change 16 months ago).

What happens is - push keystart, engine fires up quickly but sounds like it runs on 3 cylinders for a couple of seconds - then catches on all 4 cylinders fine, without me touching the throttle.

Only happens when the car is stone cold. If I start it, immediately stop it and start again it runs fine.

Outside temperature doesn't seem to affect it either - today at -2.5c fired on all 4 cyl first time after glowplug light extinguished. Other days at warmer (or colder temps) it will miss.

Any ideas guys??

...BTW - runs ok otherwise (although does use a bit of oil)

One of the traits that I don't miss - I never did get to the bottom of it with mine, so can't help I'm afraid.

I did wonder about glowplugs with mine, but then dismissed the thought because it would generally start as sweet as a nut when it was baltic cold, and only muck around when it was chilly or a bit warmer. Oddly, staring it on a really warm morning it would never do it either.

I have the same car/engine. Mine has had its battery replaced. Not bad when you think it was original and car is 8yrs old November.

Car starts 100 times better and seems better on start up. No lumpy running from the start.
