My car is due a service. Its on a 59 plate and so far has had full Audi service history. What are peoples thoughts on resale value if car has not had AFSH. My current dilemma is I can get my car serviced by Audi for £335 or get it done by a local Vag specialist for considerably less. The local Vag specialist do more and use Vag parts. I am intending on keeping the car for another couple of years at least.

Audi all the way for me, plus you will have more comeback with Audi if something goes wrong.

personally, i believe it won't affect the re sale value at all. as long as its got a fsh and as you say, the indy does more for less and you are not alone in thinking this.

If I was buying and the car was about 4 years old I would hope to see FASH; if it was older than that, as long as it was FSH with a bunch of invoices/receipts I'd be happy.

This is one of the reasons i am inclined to stay away from Audi. I have had issues with Audi before and there was a hell of a fight to get any 'comeback' satisfactorily resolved. Also when I called them, there was no mention of fixed price plans and the price they quoted me was above what the website states. But thanks for your view.

My take is your car is now 4 years ish old... if your planning on keeping for (x) period that will make it even older at time of sale...

Now I'd be happy to buy a vehicle with service history may that be indi/dealer i) as long as documented ii) as long as car drove well...

I would pay market value or more if car is a good example with history regardless of indi/dealer servicing...

Past 3 vehicles sold had mix of home/indi/dealer servicing I don't believe it made any difference on resale...

2 were P/X's, 1@ an indi garage, 1@ a main dealer... 3rd sold privately... sold within the last year or so...

My current car is FASH, wasn't really impressed with the crud in the air filter housing/pollen filter chamber...

I now do home servicing... if something beyond my capabilities then indi/dealer depending on work/price...

Maybe Chris is fortunate with his local dealership. I've just had some warranty work done at mine (I had to contribute 50%); the car came back scratched in 3 different places (I'd just had it professionally valeted that concluded with a vehicle walk round, so I knew there were no scratches) and they had 'forgotten' to fit 2 retaining clips as part of the job. I had to get them sent through the post so I could fit them myself.
In my view, if you're paying the high prices of an Audi main dealer, the job/work/experience needs to be faultless. Otherwise, what's the point?
If you go Indi who use genuine VAG, the parts still have warranty.

Like the others i dont think a FSH or FASH makes any difference when it comes to resale.

However should you have anything prematurely fail on it (ie gearbox for example) if you have FASH then with a bit of screaming and the old "ill never buy another Audi" line you have a good chance of getting a goodwill offer from them. If you deviate away from dealer it gives them carte blanche to tell you to do-one Sir.

Obviously, if you keep it long term it will get to the point where mileage and age will mean they say this regardless. However on 59 i personally keep it dealer for now. I find my local dealer likes a bit of negotiation on service price anyway.

They know me well enough now not to mess me about but yes, there were teething problems at the start but thankfully these have been rectified.

Main thing to remember is, don't give in, pressure them, make a fuss on front of customers just like I did and things were sorted within 24hrs just like that.

I would happily recommend Belfast Audi to anybody.

As long as its being serviced and this is documented it wont matter - if it did the cost wouldnt be huge, the audi service costs alot as you are paying for the shiny metal building with the dolly birds and cakes with your coffee. Id look for a good independant that comes recommended someone who knows cars and maintenance. and gives you a fair price.
