ESP, Crash sensor and other error lights.

Hi,

Need your help again please.

It maybe a coincidence but my 2005 A6 had an MOT, windscreen replaced and new rear tyres fitted. A day later error lights start lighting up the dash. The ESP light came on, the passenger side Air bag light, and the engine check light. I took it to my local garage who checked the scan which also highlighted glow plug problems. He replaced all the glow plugs cleared the codes and for a few days all was fine. In the rain the esp light came on again and the air bag light. The scan records a problem with the passenger side crash sensor but nothing for the ESP. If I press the brake pedal the ESP light start to flash. The garage cleaned the connections to the crash sensor and the light went out. Yesterday I was driving in the rain for the first time since my last garage visit and the ESP light was behaving as before, on solid and the flashing when I braked. To make matters worse, the power steering was really hard. I stopped the car for a few minutes and the steering was okay. Can you help with any of these issues please, mainly the rain and the ESP light.

So, we replaced the windshield and then on rainy days we have unknown electrical issues? Does this not suggest that perhaps there is a water leak? Water can cause all sorts of crazy issues... eventually it will cause permanent failures.. I'd start with a good inspection with hose on the windshield to see if water is getting in....!

Thanks Bruce, sorry should have said, thats one of the first things i did, hose the windscreen down, and rear wheels but no error lights. I have been to the garage 3 times now, replaced the brake light switch, had the stering wheel angel thingy done, replaced the Glow plugs. The glow plugs were replaced as at the time that was the only error logged.

I have also read that it could be a sensor on wheel or the MAF, help as this is costing a fortune.

If the steering is heavy sometimes it could be a sticking pump or alternator pulley failing

The power steering fault and issue only happened once and it went away after i trurned the ignition off for a few minutes. I have no error lights on now and it rained the other day and no ESP fault light. Why would the warning light come on but nothing logged.
