IT's been happening for a while now, at standstill I can hear this annoying rattle. It's not that loud but really irritating.

It goes away if I slightly turn the steering wheel. This confuses me.

Anyone know anything about this / experienced this?

Take it you mean the rattle is inside the cabin?
Had a bad rattle at standstill and then apparant again when i went over bumps. Was only a light rattle until I wound the windows down. Turned out the dealer hadnt fitted one of the brake caliper clips properly after the recent service.
Probably unrelated but just wondered if you can hear it louder outside the cabin if its only very subtle?

I have to be honest here, I have no idea what any of that means.
Which means that you're probably right.

right at the front of the engine is a belt that drives the fan, alternator etc.. its about an inch wide and quite long. it is tensioned by a tensioner, a pulley on a spring that keeps it tight. does this flap around. basically look at the belt and see if any of it flaps about. if unsure you will have to visit a garage. if it is this, then get it done or it can cause the tensioner to fail which will then cost you even more money.
