    Hi Folks,

I found this thread when searching for an answer to my own line of dead pixels on my A4 B6 climate Control.

Does anyone know what Andy B8's instructions on cleaning pins are?

My Unit works perfect just I have a line of dead pixels down the drivers side Climate LCD screen.

    Hi,

If you believe the contacts are dirty, then you need to remove the console, open it (not difficult) and take it apart to reveal the LCD.

As far as I remember the LCD has a metal frame around it that needs to be removed and then you carefully remove the panel, there should be 2 rubber strips at the top and bottom of the panel. You clean these with contact cleaner as well as the contacts on the main board and the LCD with a cotton bud.

Put it all back together and it will either be buggered (hopefully not) or hopefully working again.

TBH, if you need instructions to do this then I would advise you not to try it yourself as you should not attempt it without some experience in electronics (unless you don't care if you break it!).

I'm well fit to open and clean contacts. I was wondering if anyone has encountered this issue before and if the LCD panels are removable or soldered in place. I am hoping to replace the LCD from another unit if possible.

Opened one up that I had spare.

Real pain to open, but easy to get into the led displays - see pics.

Would have thought a good clean of the contacts would suffice.
