    hi,
    new to the site.

i have a passat 09 plate highline dsg saloon uk spec.

question is i want to change my bulbs at front.

is h7 the correct bulbs for my car? it does not have xenons and i want to give it a whiter/brighter look.

    many thanks

Yep h7 headlights and h7 full beam. Philips Extra vision (£25) or osram Nightbreakers (£14) slightly bluer but less luminous output than Philips.

Use indicators as DRLs at 15% intensity with standard bulbs. When indicators are used to indicate they revert to blink full brightness on and off. When indicator stalk off back as DRLs again. It's a setting in VCDS

For the sidelights, no problem road legal. Except I don't like 'em. Half the time one doesn't light despite being sold as "CANbus friendly" and throws a bulb out error on dash. And I did the upgrade to Osrams after, so the sidelight LEDs' blue tinge doesn't match the white of the Osrams' dipped heads. Still looking for a good pair of white sidelight LEDs that don't throw an error

thanks for that. if you find a set of led side lights please let me know. just bought led bulb license plate bulbs and they do not fit, well they fit but when you push in the kill the lights as the metal is touching it.

there are a few on ebay but i am unsure what would be best side lights.

Think they have to be "CANbus friendly" too

Noticed my nearside one flickering today so pulled it, re-seated it, and it hasn't thrown an error -- yet
Still an improvement on those OEM bulbs -- they look like oil lanterns on a horse drawn cab
