Replacing RCD200

I have a 2007 Polo 1.4 s which has the RCD200 head unit. I want to replace the head unit as the CD player won't work when its cold and I would like an ipod input. My question is, do I have to get a double din sized replacement head unit to fit the space or is it possible to get a normal single sized head unit and fit some sort of cubby box/tray to fill the rest of the space? Double din head units are much more expensive.

they are more expensive but look far better.
have you considered an rcd510 off ebay? not sure if you will have battery drain issues down to what canbus you have, if the polo is same as golfs.

Hi Bonrosie,
after i fitted a pioneer HU in my touran, i have ordered another for my passat.
They are both single din and for my experience they are far better sounding than the oem units (RCD 310) and have BT and USB which for me are a must!
Just make sure you get the right fitting accessories and the job will be straightforward.
