    I love audis.Recently i am deciding to change the car.Is there any audi saloon or estate with timing chain? 600 pound for the timing belt, no way.thanks

    2.7/3.0 TDI in the newer cars are all chained. Some petrol models are too.

    What's your budget etc ?

    Audi 80 tdi avant with 360,000 miles...

    I didnt get what u trying to say.r u trying to say that chain is more expensive than belt? But timing chain needs any maintenance?

    If it starts rattling you're screwed and it will need replacing.

    chains don't last forever. a belt is designed to be changed as part of routine maintenance. a chain is not, so when it does require changeing it often costs a lot of money. some cars require the engine to be removed from the car in order to do the job. some folk prefer chains, some prefer belts. as long as a belt is changed properly, then it is reliable.
