    Hi All

I'm a newby and the proud owner of a VW Sharan. The radio is odd on it as it plays out of the passenger side only until I open the drivers side window a tad. Is it an earthing problem? Any help would be appreciated. Why it has a cassette player in it for a 2001 car is beyond me. I vaguely remember cassettes.
I'm going to put in a dvd radio mp3 cd player in it soon so maybe this cure my mystery. My cassette collection will have to be recycled.
    Cheers

I bought a '51 plate sharan with a cassette player, although in the rear of the car to the right is a little flip open box, and there was a 6 disc cd changer in there.. My dreams had been forfilled hehehe..

I looked on the VW Main dealer website and they want in between £200 >£500 for part and labour for it pmsl..

So check where the 7th seat goes and to the right of it is where mine was

Hope this saves you a bomb

    Jordan

    Edit

About the one sided mystery :P.. - Thats exactly how i bought mine, only worked on the passengers side. Solution was: Press FAD (Fader) Set it to Rear1 (-1) Then press BAL (Balance) and set it to 0 so its equal.
    -__-__-__-__-__-__-__-__-__-__-__-__-__-

If that does not work, set the Balance to 9 drivers side with the window right up and see if it works then. If it doesnt then i think VW Surrey is the place to go

Have you check the speaker connections?

My Audi was like that , I think they work loose with the door being open and shut all the time!!!

Thanks for your help guys. My new wireless has arrived and it is different fittings to the VW Cassette radio Beta which I have taken out. Any one know what type of wiring loom I will need? It goes from 2 (Vw) to 1 (nice new wirless). I suspect I'll need an Arial adapter too. Any recomendations?
    Cheers

go to your local halfords or i.c.e.shop they will have the right patch leads so you can plug them into loom and radio saves a lot of mucking about! take radio and car, on speaker prob check conexions as onzarob says but also check wiring where it goes from door pillar into door these can break hope this helps

Thanks again. I'm off to Halfords tomorrow with radios in hand to hopefully get a loom or adapter. I'll let you know how I get on.

Hi All, I dutifully trotted off to Halfords but they were not good so went to a car radio place and they were excellent. I now have my new video,cd,mp3,tea maker installed. Cost a bit but being a muso I can't live without my music. Sounds mega. One thing they discovered is that the speakers in the back are somehow coming in on the front wires. Apparently from manufacture and that I need to run separate leads from them to get the best from my noise polluter. I wonder how many other VW's are out there in the same condition and owners not realizing?
    Thanks for all your help.

By the way. It fixed my mystrious problem so it must have been in the wiring.
