    Hi all,

    I hope someone can help.

I have a 2007 A3 with the Audi Symphony system.

I am in the process of fitting an aftermarket Pioneer double din stereo. i've completed what i think is correct so far,

wired the handbrake switch correctly (so i cant watch DVDs whilst moving) - works fine)
taken an ignition power feed - works. all appears to be working, stereo remember radio stations etc.

The only issue i have is the rear speakers are not working

Would i be correct in thinking the rear are amplified? if that is the case then they should be receiving power i guess.

Have i got the wrong harness? maybe i should bypass the amp for the rear speakers. any ideas where it is?

    i appreciate any help guys.

    cheers

Hi there i am presuming your car is the upto 2007 model (8P) these cars have amplified rear speakers so if the harness that you have got has 4 lots of speaker wires then it is the wrong harness (speaker wires would be white, grey, purple and green all with solid colours and a matching colour with black line. You would need to get a harness with just front speaker wires and a pair of RCA Cables which would plug into the rear amplifier pre out on the headunit or use the speaker conversion lead 20-250 and all that would be left to do is connect the amplifier turn on wire normally blue to the amplifier turn on on the back of the new head unit again normally blue.

    Upto 2007 Audi A3

    hopefully this helps.

    Done!!

works correctly, rear speakers all ok.

advice from my local auto centre help me sort it. Thanks for your input gav.

The harness i had was correct and RCA weren't needed. The rear speakers are amplified as i already knew. what i didnt know was that these amps are powered via an alternative means and therefore the remote wire (blue wire) coming out from the stereo is used to activate both the aerial adaptor and amp switch. there once i had wired this up correctly to the DSP EIN it all worked fine.

    happy days
