    Hi guys,

Over the weekend my TPMS started throwing an error in the DIS. Message was TPMS system malfunction. Tried re-initialising, if you leave the info up in the MMI it's all good. Pressures correct.

Did a code scan earlier and got this:

Address 65: Tire Pressure Labels: 4F0-910-273-HI.lbl

Now I'm thinking it's more likely the battery in the sensor is starting to fail, it's an 05 plate and doing lots of internet searching suggests the life is between 7-10 years.

Now, replacing them from audi is £104 each, yes I can find the same Beru sensors for less.

However I'm not planning to put the summer tyres back on for a bit yet, and in the meantime the DIS keeps beeping loudly and displaying the error regularly (gets annoying on long journey).

Could anyone advise on the following:

Am I correct it's most likely the sensor(s) and not the receivors that are at fault?

Looks like I can disable TPMS with VCDS by changing the coding as follow:
    Fourtitude.com - TPMS shut off....

    VCDS Coding Info.jpg

My coding is 2129443, if I subtract the 16 what would the coding become?

Appreciate any help, don't want to break anything !!

    Andy

    Hi Andy,

    Hope all is well.

If you look at your first screen dump, the ???? in the equipment category relate to the first 4 digits of your coding so - 2129443

If you subtract 16 from 2129 you will get 2113 so your new coding should be 2113443.

Any coding you change will be in the Debug folder under CodingLog text file in the Ross Tech system directory.

    Thanks Chris,

Appreciate that, wasn't quite sure what number you subtracted the 16 from. Will give it a go and see what happens, hopefully no loud beep every few miles !!

    Thanks again.

    Hi,

Eventually been at home long enough to get a chance to try the re-coding. Last couple of days the system had been behaving but alas it went off again today.

    epic-fail.jpg

Well, on recoding the beep and DIS message comes up as soon as the ignition is switched on. Figured I'd rather have a beep occasionally than every time for the next few days as have a long road trip.

In the meantime found out that Audi want £104 each sensor, plus of course it's a tyre off job and rebalance to factor in. Can get a better deal elsewhere so will hold out.

    Hi ya Andy ...

Your possibly also going to have to remove it from...

Link:- Audi A6 (4F) Control Head Front (High) - Ross-Tech Wiki

    And perhaps module 19 Link:- Audi Portal: ECU Diagnostic . Audi A6 4F (2005- ) . Gateway J533

Be aware the above link for CAN Gateway (module 19) says GERMAN market...

You may have helper balloon appear or use the "Installation List" menu within module 19 and uncheck TPMS...

Link:- Ross-Tech: VCDS Tour: Gateway Installation List

I think the above edit in ins.cluster maybe overridden by the other codings/adaptations for TPMS...

    Hope it helps...
