    Hi

I've had a look at long outstanding issue on the car where rear washer did not work. Put a new motor only to find out that feed to rear washer end up in battery compartment at around where the battery is and does not go anywhere! It's just a loose end.

What I need from somebody is to tell me where should the connector be or should it go somewhere else. I can see that somebody before me has been messing about in there so not sure if water feed should go to battery compartment at all.

    Thanks

It is the rear line. Like I said nut sure if it should be fed that way. When I bought the car the rear line never worked.

So you recon it should feed in passenger side foot-well. I've notice something like a sleeve going in cabin from wheel arch just at the end of wheel arch plastic cover. It is very easy to see it without taking the wheel off. Mine is just a loose sleeve. However, it is strange that line is nicely put away along the pollen filter cover with clips. If it was broke and somebody wanted to just run the water away it would surely find an easier path.

Ihad an Avant once that had a break in the line under the front N/S carpet .The line came out of the bulkhead so maybe someone has pulled it out and left it by the battery. You may have to lift the carpet to investigate and if this is so look for the hole .I dealt with mine in good weather which still took days to dry out

The tube in the battery compartment has nothing to do with the rear wash wipe. As far as I know this is a drain tube under the wipers that allows water to drain into the bulkhead, then out of the rubber grommets (seated in the bulkhead). The rubber grommets easily block - so while you're there ensure there is no water sloshing about under the battery - you'll need a torch to check.

The rear wash wipe runs from the water reservoir on the passenger side. Remove the plastic wheel arch liner. It's held in place with stainless steel star drive screws. With the screws removed you'll be able to drop the wheel arch liner down and away revealing the water reservoir. The rubber tube connects to the reservoir - then goes through the bulkhead coming in the passenger footwell (behind the plastic trim).

Thanks for detailed explanation. I've originally started looking at this because instead of rear washer I've had front washer going. Someone has fit the wrong motor where regardless of polarity it was doing fronts only (only one nozzle). Now when I connect the rear correctly it was apparent that water was coming where the battery is. Looks like someone has wrongly connected the battery drain pipe with water feed. Will have to have a look at this again and find the entry in passenger footwell. Guessing that plastic trim you talking about is the one on the side of the footwell, on the pillar.
