Ok the, just had dpf removed and ecu remapped (passat sport 2007 ) which bumped bhp upto 240 (ish) and now the inevitable has happened. Clutch started to slip, bummer I know! Question is, clutch does need replacing but I'm wondering how much more (if any) vibration can be felt by carrying out solid flywheel conversion.

    Cheers fellas

If you replace the DMF with another one then it will wear out quicker due to the additional torque - it may be worthwhile in this case to go for the solid flywheel as there is little chance of a fault developing with a solid one.

Pedal feel and vibration would be a decision once you drive it but from others who have had it done the general opinion is that it is good/acceptable. I would also look into uprating the clutch as it will wear out again prematurely due to it not being rated for the bhp you now have.

See if Clutch Specialists Manufacturer and Supplier of Handmade Clutch Kits are of any help.

Thats too many gee gees for a standard clutch, a good competition type clutch could handle it no problem

Solid flywheels don't give vibration. That is just nonsense spread by people who know little. A dmf allows the engine pulses to feel slightly smoother at very low rpm (under 1000 rpm). Most performance engines use solid flywheels because a dmf would break.

Finally someone who understands. Thanks Martin :-):-):-).

On previous performance cars and my last re mapped car. I used a company called Techni clutch.

On my last turbo diesel that was mapped to around 200bhp. I used techi clutch again for a solid flywheel and uprated clutch. I think it was a stage 2 organic clutch etc.... Prepare yourself for around a £1000 bill :-(:-(.

On some vehicles i have experienced slightly more vibration when solid fitted but was curious if any more is felt on a bmr engined vw (first experience with dmf going south on a vw) Will be doing the job myself. Just need advice now on which product would be best suited to the bhp and torque its producing (around 420 nm and 210-240 bhp) I know solid flywheel will be the way forward but 4 or 6 paddle or solid friction plate and which manufacturer? ? Been looking at valeo conversion kits?? Trying to limit the damage to the wallet aswell....................................Big car big bills big ballache!

    Thanks for advice so far
