Well, my Audi A4 1.8t S line 2008 was booked in for a cam belt change tomorrow, It's been booked in for over a week, and Ive changed the date by a day to better suite my needs. Got a call today to say that my car doesn't require a cam belt due to it having a timing chain! Now surely the dealer should of known that the car didn't need a cam belt. They must have a computer system to ensure that a car can't be booked in for a job which is impossible to do! It's annoying because I've had to make work fit around the time which I could collect a courtesy and be able to drop it off!

Its not all a loss, my car was due for a service next month, which is going to be done tomorrow so I haven't wasted too much time.

I have use Audi Birmingham for all servicing and found them to be excellent, so I am surprised at such a basic mistake.

what is your engine code. it is hopefully AMB, but please check .
if so, then it does have a timing belt as well as a chain. the belt drives one cam and a chain then drives the other cam. the chain does not require changing but the belt does.

I agree, Birmingham Audi are excellent, my parents and sister both use them and never found an issue! But it is a very basic mistake to make!

i have used Birmingham Audi several times and would recommend them to anyone, surprises me that something like this wasn't picked up on booking. Very bizarre! Just think of the money you have saved!
