That sounds like misplaced prejudism to me. All the motoring press say the MX-5 is a brilliant car - and I agree. Great value and a great drive. Richard Hammond had one, and Jay Leno - but hey, they don't know anything about cars!

Of course it's up to you if you want to deny yourself the enjoyment that the car can deliver.

p.s. One point to note, it is somewhat difficult to have intercourse in; but it is possible if your wife/girlfriend is a contortionist and/or short.

Love the S2000 myself but would quite happily have an MX5 as well, and I seem to recall reading the Mk1 1.6 are some of the best (if not too rusty) from a driving perspective as they are the lightest of the lot. But how about a Mk1 MR2? A friend had one and swears it was the most fun car he's ever driven and he's driven a few. eg. Toyota MR2 Mk1..gleaming red..£1000's spent | eBay

It will more than likely hold its value and for a few months over the summer shouldn't cost much to keep it on the road... Lovely car and I'm sure a lot of fun!

They do this very well though...

My daughter (was her Mum's) has a MKII MX5. It has been in the family since her Mum bought it. Only a 1.6 that never breaks, way better than any VAG car I own/ed for reliability and cost. RWD too a proper blokes car unlike the girlie FWD most of us have
S2000 I have considered and only hear good of them. You have to hoof it to get that 240bhp but 9k will be sublime
I bought a '97 Alfa Spider TS of which is shown below. £1400 and it runs perfectly. I have had to replace a thermostat and am currently replacing the front discs and pads but other than that

    One German, Two Italian.
    It's a Mercedes Benzzzz though

Going to view a 2003 S2000 tomorrow - a bit rough on the bodywork but i've been assured the mechanicals are 100%.

Would prefer something thats ready to go, but depending on the overall physical condition and how the seller is feeling towards knocking a bit off I may consider buying!

VTEC will be kicking in lots!
