binding brakes

hi everyone, i have an audi a4 1.8 t 2002, i have recently discovered a problem with my brakes, i had to brake sharply, doing this caused the brake pedal to stick down and lock the brakes on for 10 seconds or so, now i have noticed that the brakes are binding on occasionally until they cool down then they will be ok again for a week or so then the brakes bind again,when this happens the brake pedal feels hard and the brakes are very sharp too, this is happening to all 4 wheels.
can anyone give me some idea to what might be causing this.
any advice would be greatfull, thanks, dave
