    Hi all,

Lurked and read here for the past month while researching my new car. I've always had a thing for Audis but have never owned one. (Currently have an ancient Volvo estate - great car in its day, very reliable and built like a tank but a recent increase in my need to drive means I'm on the hunt for something a bit more modern.)

I've seen a 2009 2.7 TDI A6 allroad - nice looking car and pretty good spec in terms of extras. It's got 61K on the clock and a full main dealer service history and is through the Audi used approved scheme. So far so good.

Until I started googling around and started getting cold feet about reliability. But then if I google for medical issues I tend to become convinced I've got brain cancer and gout as well, so I'm looking for a few balanced views on how much trouble I could expect to have with this car, and any warning signs to look for. (I've noted the rear washer point elsewhere in the forum.)

I'm ok with preventive maintenance - won't skimp on services or getting jobs done when they are identified. But I don't want to be worrying I'm going to be 10K in the hole for busted turbos and gearboxes if I can avoid it! So any thoughts: are these reasonably reliable or am I better looking elsewhere?

    Thanks for any advice!

You will buy a very sorted motor production wise... as a later car will have superseded parts/software vs earlier ones... if I was you just buy and enjoy ...

Later once you've got to know the car if intending to keep get the Tiptronic oil change done... car will feel so much smoother & extend life of GB...

You are not gonna suffer alot of the mechanical faults which early V6 engines have... so again just sit back and enjoy after purchase ...

You will have dealer warranty as well for a period... maybe ask at purchase if you can wrangle longer period of warranty...
When you have an issue the forum will be here ...

    Hi there,

I also looked at this car before i bought the one i have got. The main thing that concerned me was the Air Suspension as i have read that this can be quite problamatic.

Not too sure why, but alot of people have commented on it.

Great cars on the whole though.

    Good Luck.

Thanks for the replies and the advice gupsterg - great to hear that going for a late model gives me better odds. I might try and find an audi-experienced person to test drive with me: one of the things about the allroad is that it seems to be so packed with stuff that it's difficult to remember everything you've got to check! Good idea to haggle on the warranty - that piece of mind would be worth a bit to me.

The later cars, such as this seem to have the suspension sorted. The earlier version wash indeed troublesome and expensive to repair.
with full SH, all of the recall checks should have been done. My 2007 allroad has had the rear washer hose routing checked, also the cooling fan wiring. As far as I know there is nothing else.

i love my 3.0, true it has had some silly faults, but my dealer has sorted them all under the used car warranty.
take it for a drive and fall in love....
