Which oil please?

hi I have a 56 reg 1.8t A4 cab what is the correct oil to use called in at the local garage who serviced it last they said they put in semi-synthetic 10w/40 in it is this correct as there seems to be conflicting reports on internet

According to TPS the correct oil for your engine is 5w/30 Fully Synthetic

Thats what I am finding it says on the internet when I went today they looked it up on i presume autodata and said 10w/40 semi synthetic thats wats confusing me. Does it sound like they have put wrong oil in ???

Check your car manual, which will show the types to use on your engine, easiest option is to check with audi, give your vin & ask what viscosity you need, but I suspect its as Chris states, fully synth 5w/30, putting the wrong type in could be an issue.
