Hi peeps...I have a 2005 2.0TDI which is currently only getting 37.4mpg. Although at the moment alot of my driving is city driving which would bring this down, I never have gotten more than 44mpg even when I was driving to and from work which was 60miles a day, all of which were motorway miles.

I get my car regularly serviced and although I don't drive like a granny, I don't drive the s**t out of the car either.

My previous car was a ford mondeo 2.0tddi mk3 which was averaging 47.5mpg, when I got the passat I was expecting to match this at least if not improve but unfortunately this is not the case.

I'm just wondering what the rest of you are getting in terms of mpg in your TDI Passats?

235/45/17 tyres CR Tdi, city 40, motorway 55 (70mph on cruise control). It was few miles less before but after using millers mpg improved. Think if I was economy nerd, then narrower tyres and opting for saloon/sedan instead would up mpg even further. But then again there are so many variables hills, wind, temperature night or day etc.

I can get 55-60MPG on a decent run, driving fairly carefully. Push it and it drops to 55.

However, I have to drive through town to work sometimes, and am lucky to manage 35 in traffic. Because I've not done so many long trips recently, the current long average is about 43.

Mine's a CR 2.0TDi (140BHP) estate running whatever is standard on an R-Line as far as tyres go:-)

    Cheers

    Ben

Very similar here too on the same tyres - city/commute 44, motorway/quiet A roads 50-55, and this is in the winter so will be interesting to see what happens when it warms up...

Never seen anything below 41, even on the longest traffic-jammed commute home. 1.9 tdi does have some slightly different MPG figures though, especially on the 'urban cycle'

Got three bluemotions estates and a non bluemotion est 1.9pd .
Two of the bluemotions have the 2.0cr engine and one with the 1.9pd bluemotion.
The best mpg I get is from the 1.9pd bluemotion which averages 55mpg when cruise set at around 80mph with equipment on board.
This has michelin energy saver tyres 205/55 R16 fitted all round and does improve the mpg compared to the rest with standard and now winter tyres fitted.
One of the 2.0cr bluemotions I have fitted 235/45/17 sport wheels with winter tyres and was getting around 53mpg at 80mph but has dropped to 51mpg since fitting these alloys and are twice the weight of the standard bluemotion wheels which shocked me!! ..but look so good..
The old girl the non bluemotion 1.9pd est drops to 40 mpg at 80mph with the rpm at 2750 compared to bluemotion gearing in fifth at 2250rpm.
Again this has the sport pack from new with the 235/45/17 wheels fitted .
I was getting 44mpg at realistic motorway speeds at 80 mph a few years ago but, has dropped significantly since its hit 220,000 miles and is going in next week for a service and to have the vacuum pipes looked at as the brakes feel a bit spongy and slight loss in power.

I have seen 65 mpg when I travel from Swindon to South Mimms services on the M25 at a cruising speed of 60mph. If you look at the picture below I was at a theoretical 1,000 miles range from a full tank. Of course I know that will never happen but it's way better than my old Volvo XC90 D5 which at best got 40 mpg on long runs.

VW Passat 1.9tdi pd 105bhp 2008. I bought my current passat about two months before Christmas. I use the car every day to drive to work, 45 miles each way. Its A roads, B roads, and a bit of motor way. I was getting 46mpg. During the Christmas break I fitted a chip box, we now have 132bhp and Im now getting 52mpg doing the same run. I have not made any long motor way trips yet. Im very happy with this passat. My last one was a B5.
