Two things spring to mind... but before that....

When was last service? have you had air/fuel filter done?

Without a VCDS scan / diagnostics scan... my best two guesses due to it being an early 3.0 TDi...

    i) injectors ii) gearbox oil update & software required... one or the other... could be both ...

    Is yours an Auto?

You can visually check your injector P/N and revision... remove the engine cover... then check the plastic collar...

This image... Audi P/N is 059130 277BD.... just below Audi P/N 110117 which is 17/01/11... the Bosch P/N is last line 0445115 079...

You are not having very bad white smoke?
do not confuse with milder vapour from low temps at moment... it will be dense, smell bad if unburnt diesel...

You can also visually check the plate on your gearbox to see the serial number... car will need to be raised to view plate...

Ref this thread Link:- ZF 6HP19A tiptronic gearbox (A6 3.0 TDI Quattro)

Your code scanner is not going to allow measuring block testing like on VCDS (Ross Tech) or VAS (dealer diags)...

Link:- audi 3.0tdi engine measurement blocks

    Link:- Audi Portal: ECU Diagnostic . Audi A6 4F (2005- ) . Transmission Control Unit J217

You could ask a member close to you to scan your car Link:- VWAF User Location Map - VCDS - Google Maps

Member equal beer tokens... you could go to a forum sponsor garage near you Link:- Site Sponsors - Directory Of Site Sponsors

VCDS scan@indi gonna be half what Audi dealer charge for diags... with VCDS scan you will also get part no/revisions for car modules...

Without scans I've told you the worst two... in my early ownership of my 3.0 TDi I let fuel run low but not empty that could not reach garage never an issue and I've had a few ...

Will keep an eye on updates to thread but at mo no more info to add ... maybe another member with another idea will come along ...

    Hi,

Does the headlight error only appear on start-up when light switch is in AUTO? or is it on every start-up or only when the headlights are switched on?

WIth regards to the judder - my car has that issue at present and Audi have advised a gearbox fluid change (to a newer fluid) and a software update to cure it.

    Six.

Not guaranteed to be a cure, but a good old fashioned booting might help. Unless of course you drive like a hooligan to start with....

if you are always pottering about in town a good clean out may be in order.

nothing to lose other than some fuel....

    cant help with the headlamps.....
