    Hi All,

First proper post on the forum, hope it's in the right place!?!?

I've been looking through all of the threads and the amount of content is superb, will definitely be back here once I've bought an A6.

My question, I'm looking at 3.0 TDI Le Mans Q Saloon. I'm wondering if anyone could advise on any major upgrades on components, any faults found between 07/57 car and an 08/58 car or are they pretty much the same?

From what I gather 07/08 was the last before the facelift so should have any manufacturing faults worked out, correct?

Also, does anyone have any tips on what to look for on the Le Mans spec when viewing the car, are there any faults/warning signs particular to this model?

    Many Thanks

    Euan

Hi Euan, welcome to VWAF, if your budget allows i would buy as late as possible.

Think a 57 should be pretty sorted but for a little extra cash the 58 would buy peace of mind in my opinion.

Sure others will be along to advise.

    Good luck with your search.

Thanks Fieldy really enjoying getting my geek on across all the threads. It's been really useful during my search.

I'm looking as late as I can, 58 plate would be ideal but their few and far between at the right spec and condition and unfortunately at the top end or over my budget. I have found an 07 plate with 60k FASH, reasonable price too. Will be fully serviced, MOT'd, Alloy's refurbed and bodywork taken car of. Really tempted, am I right in thinking services are 2yrs apart or 19k whatever is first?

Also, can anyone out there confirm when the cambelt needs done please, 70-75k?

    Cheers again

    Euan

07 onward should be pretty much a sound purchase imo. However If I were buying again, I'd be happier with a fully loaded (le mans or s line with MMI High 07 plate with all the extras and lower mileage but a slightly higher price than I would with a 58 plate with a higher screen price.

    The V6 diesels don't have a cambelt .. They're chain driven.

Early cars had chain rattles but 07/57/08 will have everything sorted so no real problems. Over the past 4 years I've only had the odd glow plug and the odd intake manifold go but these are common problems and there are fix kits out there but never had a breakdown or anything major happen.

My car has 79k on it and services are every 10k/1 year.

Please please please get your oil changed every 10k or 1 year, having it in your engine for 2years/20k is madness and many experts on here convey that it reduces the lift of your engine.

20k for air filter and whatnot else is fine but get your oil changed 10k/1 year without a doubt.

Most '58 plates will be facelift but you always get the odd prefacelift on a 58 which hasn't been registered until later.

Make sure you get MMI High - ie the colour screen above the centre airvents - makes the car a nicer place to be plus make sure you get Bluetooth as it can be expensive to add it afterwards.

Le Mans will come with rear parking sensors as standard, interior light pack, 19" double arm alloys, volterra leather and a 30mm drop in ride height.

All a6s come with cruise as standard

Thanks guys, some really good info there. I've seen comments across the forum from both of you, looks like you're on the pulse with these so appreciate you taking the time.

I've driven a few Le Mans already through a contact at my local Audi dealer, 2.7, 3.0 57's and a 2.0 '10 plate facelift. Not surprisingly I've decided upon the 3Q. I'm definitely on for the Le Mans spec, have been for years since seeing them used as staff/crew shuttle cars at Le Mans 24hrs and I'm finally glad to be in the hunt! MMi High is a must, AMi would be a nice extra, any thoughts on the Bose systems?

Wasn't sure about the chain/belt so thanks for clarifying that and I will be sure to change oil yearly. Pretty happy with the feedback I've read that an 07 or 57 will be just as good as an 08.

I've seen some highly spec'd cars on eBay but higher miles are putting me off a few of them, another one had keyless entry and start which was interesting. and memory seats. Would you mind taking a look at these two and giving me your thoughts.

This is the car I mentioned above.
"07 plate with 64k FASH, Will be fully serviced, MOT'd, Alloy's refurbed and bodywork taken care of."

And this is another I've been looking at.
I've not spoken to dealer as yet on this one. I've read mixed reviews on the adaptive xenons, do either of you have any experience of them?

I'm not stuck on these but this is where I'm looking at the moment.

As a complete outsider there is this! Pretty big spec but 91k on it?!?!?

    Thanks again guys.

    Euan

Servicing is either variable depending on mileage, time and driving style, with a maximum of 19kmiles/2 years, or fixed 10k or annual. You can decide, if you do less than 10k miles pa or do a lot of short (city) journeys then you should go for fixed, if you do lots of longer trips then go variable. Variable servicing also demand expensive fully synthetic oil. Many on this forum (and others) would advocate not going down the variable route irrespective of driving style or mileage.

Mileage isn't a problem at all for the V6 so don't let that put you off.

Adaptive Xenons are Xenons which turn the beam in relation to the steering angle so its handy for country roads.

Just make sure it has full audi history and preferably buy from an audi dealer as you'll get 1 year audi warranty with a used car purchase.

I would be happy with any of the cars you've posted, just depends on the spec you want and to use.
