observations after 700 miles from new:

1. Lot of wind noise from rear of car. Door seals look OK and rear doors look to fit OK. going back into the dealer this Friday but they could find nothing wrong 2 weeks ago ... didn't buy it from them so maybe they are not interested. Got VW UK on the case so we will see

2. Fuel consumption poor - averaging 38 mpg, whereas was getting 43-45 on my previous golf 2.0 TDT 140. Maybe too early .

Plus points:

1. free insurance for 1st year

2. Easy to park

3. Can get kids in

4. cheap(ish) road tax.

Your mpg will improve until the engine loosens up so anything from now to 20k

How much is the tax? £0/20/30?

I think it's £20 for the normal TDI.

Re the noise- are you driving with the parcel shelf in? It knocks out a lot of the noise in my car, which otherwise reverberates around the boot and into the cabin.

just got car back from garage and they said to out parcel shelf back in ( I had it out)

Hopefully should make a difference
