Hi. I have a 2005 1.9 tdi passat and I've got the Mass Airflow Sensor fault.

Firstly, can anyone recommend a cheaper place to purchase one from, other than the dreaded VW shop

Also, can anyone please tell me where it is situated under the bonnet and explain (Like I'm a 6 year old) how to go about it's replacement.

    many thanks

What is the Mass Airflow Sensor fault?
    Try TPS
It's on the left side in front of the air filter box

    Hi.

The readout from VAGCOM said"16485 Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70) - Implausible Signal"

    What is TPS?

Found the offending item and it looks simple to replace . . . . any suggestions as to whether to go VAG or will a "Motor Factor Special" do just as well?

    thanks

Replaced the MAF with a Bosch genuine part (In about 10 mins flat) but on test drive, the car still was "Limping". I took off the new MAF and fitted the old one back but left the electrical connection un-coupled and the car ran better! I then re-connected the electrics to the MAF and it ran as it should do, though I've still got "Emissions" error on the dash.

I noticed that the wires to the MAF plug had been squashed under the breather pipe. Could this be relevant?

Help please, where to check next?

    Thanks
