    Hi all,
I have fitted a sony headunit in my mk4 golf as i wanted the mp3 usability and the radio reception goes somewhere between bad and totally unlistenable, the reception wasnt terrible on the original gamma unit but even so wasnt exactly stunning. Would a signal amplifier help here does anyone know or is there something else going on ?, thanks in advance.
    John

I suggest that you check the antenna, I had a similar problem with my old MK4 which turned out to be a crack at the base of the antenna.

Did you use the correct wiring connectors to adapt the loom? I believe that the mk4 golf has a signal amplifier built into the aerial base, that has a feed from the back of the original radio, so you do need to use the correct connectors.
