  1. Audi A3 8PA 1.9tdi BKC engine...glow plug connectors disintegrating

Just changed the glow plugs and noticed that the sleeves that fit over the plugs are breaking up, I suppose due to time and heat. This last inch or so that connects to the plugs appears to be 'changeable' from the wiring loom/rail. I appear (or hope so) to have the connection to the top of the plugs but the sleeve that fits over the plugs further down may hold it in place and protect the plugs and that is my worry. Can anyone confirm that these 'sleeves' are available and, if so, their part number.

    Many thanks

"Contact bridge with loom glow plug", part number 038 971 782 C and about £30 from an Audi dealer.

Are you saying that I have to buy the whole harness when all I want is the plastic sleeves that slip over the glow plug? These seem to be detatchable from the harness. I am sure their function is to 'clip' to the plugs. If these are not available seperately, could I not use some tubing to hold to the plugs?

    Thanks for the reply.

I am not sure what you get as all ETKA says is "Contact bridge with loom glow plug" plus ELSA gives no clue except to show that the wiring goes directly back to the glow plug control unit so I think you you get either a repair section that has to be spliced in or the whole glow plug loom that has to be run all the way back but could still be spliced in, the coving is not show as a spare part.

TBH usually in etka if it includes other items its lists them within brackets under that part in diagram, but we're talking etka & lexcom here, its never cut/dry with there logic & on this occasion it actually states as crasher mentioned, with loom, but again that could be etka logic so without any loom lol

You can buy it seperate as crasher says about £30 as the description advised states with maybe a small loom, but it also can be bought as part of a main engine loom with all parts including this one for £200+

So it would appear based on this you need to bite bullet & cough up £30 which considering where & what it is, just accept its a cost that only happens once in a blue moon
