    Hi all.

i have just done the most silliest thing. I have inserted an SD card into the CD slot. I tried with a bit of heavy card cut into an L shape to push it from behind. this started to work then the CD dock took the whole card along with the card even deeper so that I cannot even see them anymore. anyone now if the removal of the CD dock is easy. I have had a quick look and it looks a mission. does anyone know of a decent car media installer. in the west Essex/ east hearts area that would be able to have a look.

    many thanks.

The CD unit can be removed without removing further trim... you should be able to see little slots... you need a removal tool to go in there...

Genuine Removal tools/keys 4D0 051 530 roughly £3 ish... they also available on ebay...

When removing get orientation correct on tools... IIRC flats on hoop face inside... there will also be leads on the rear of unit so pull slow...

On my older car the CD unit also has a seal to show tampering so if your remove the cover off the drive they will know...
Perhaps when you got unit out you maybe be able to remove face to get SD card out or wiggle it to a better position...

i think on the c7 its just a little bit harder to remove it as its built into the dashboard of the car ...

talk nicely to your service advisor, im sure they will be able to sort you out.

thats because the player is built into the dash above the aircon controls iirc?

i would be guessing that some trim has to be removed

    Thanks for that Chris,

I thought as much, I am pretty handy with my hands but you are right better let the service guys deal with it. I never use CDs anyway so no real rush to get it sorted.

I wonder how many others have done a similar thing.

Especially since the car is still under warranty I'd be getting Audi to do it moreso.

Can I ask, how did you manage it? Sure the SD slots are behind the little flap ...

The SD slots are about 30mm below the CD slot. No flaps on my car.
The annoying thing is I almost manage to get it out a bit then the unit thought I inserted a CD and it snatched the bit of card out of my hand and took the whole lot in so now the card and SD are in the CD player.
Well I guess its a lucky escape Id rather the damage happen to the CD that I will never use than visible damage on the car.

I wonder how much it would cost to sort out.

The same thing very nearly happened to me -- I reckon I was about 2mm from being in the same situation!
