Picked up an 05 plate tdi touran off a neighbour. It's been sitting for about 9 months due to turbo problems.
I'm getting some electrical gremlins so thinking damp has got to the various ecus so would like to take them out and dry them off.
Does anyone know where the ones that control the steering wheel and the abs are located?

    There's a few issues:

ABS/ESP or whatever it's called light is on once the engine starts but goes out after a very short distance (no faults with brakes on computer)
The steering wheel light comes stays on as orange/yellow and then does the same as the above (only a recent thing)
The front wipers only occasionally work (no pattern to this) but the rear one always works. They also dont 'jump' when the engine goes on or off

code read it with vagcom and it gave the following:

005784 - Please Check DTC Memory of Steering Wheel Electronics
    P1698 - 001 - - Intermittent

What was the trouble code in the steering wheel electronics? Maybe that will give you a clue what the trouble is.

The steering electronics ECM is under the steering cowlings and the ABS ECM is attached to the ABS pump module near the N/S bulkhead in the engine bay
