One common problem with the AZD is people using 95RON fuel in them, they do not like it. They are supposed to run on a minimum 98RON fuel with 95RON only in exceptional circumstances this is shown on the sticker inside the fuel flap as 95/98. It will not be the whole reason for any possible pinging,knock,pre-ignition,detonation but it can be a contributory factor. I forgot to add the picture

The AZD has a knock sensor (basically a microphone). It is bolted to the back of the block under the inlet manifold and must be torqued to exactly 20Nm.

    Update.
Finally sourced a local garage that sells 98ron and shall be using that from now on.
The garage owner mentioned that I should use an additive, Wynns Octane booster which "offers valve seat protection and minimises pinking ". What do you guy's think about using an additive ? In particular the above mentioned one ?
PS. Just read up on this product and it claims to increase the octane rating by 2 to 5 points. If I used 98 ron and used this product would I damage the engine with the high ron

A high RON means the fuel burns more slowly, that can't damage your engine. "HIGH OCTANE" used in ads always makes me laugh when they are trying to sell speed "makes it burn slower" doesn't sound that good does it! 98 RON though in the UK, that's odd. I can only get 97 and 99.
