She seems a bit hard on diesel you'd get similar mileage from a 1.8 T if you drove it nice. I'd get the remap undone I don't like these guys coming with a laptop and changing stuff with no way of checking/verifying what they've done. You need a rolling road and the map has to be tailored to your car, changing a stock map for a map that's not for your car is pants

Auto Quattro (ie Tip) or Auto FWD (ie Multitronic)? I have Multitronic and am never getting less than 600 to a tank. Best was a steady slog to Bristol and back twice from Cambridge (M11/M25/M4) out of a tank. That's a LOT of miles but none of it was more than 65mph and it really was totally empty when I got back - and roads were clear all the way in both directions....

Normally I'm about 680 to a tank and that includes pottering about and motorway stuff. That's measured, and DIS under-reads overall my economy on a tank-to-tank basis - but seems to be more or less accurate between services at an average of about 45.9mpg...

118k miles, longlife servicing, 17" wheels, stock Sport variant no other mods other than multitronic changes every 35k.

    HTH.

    Cheers,
    Dan.

How big is the tank on yours? I've heard some say they only hold ~50l mine is a definite 70l. Today's fill up, brim to brim was 44.97mpg over 500 miles with 200 on one run (100 miles each way to the office) and the other 300 pottering around over xmas. That's measured, not from DIS or anything, but DIS isn't far out as it suggested 44.1 over that last fill.

First stops would be filters, fuel system cleaner, service, and then i'd probably look to others for advice - as i'd be checking EGR and things like that, but there's folks on here hugely more knowledgeable than I

    Cheers,
    Dan.

Check out Audi A4 MPG Reports | Fuelly and find others with same year of manufacture, model, etc.

It's quite a good site for comparing your fuel efficiency against similar cars, engine set ups, etc. however be warned, it borders on OCD once you start. I used it for a year and religiously logged every fuel-up, miles travelled, etc. The summer months will return your best fuel efficiency if you drive like 'Miss Daisy'!

I'm driving a B5 A4 2.5 TDI quattro sport avant (standard 150 bhp) and regularly return 44mpg according to DIS. That's over A class roads with very little city driving. That equates to £75 of diesel and a total range of 530 miles in summer or 480 miles in winter.

One thing you could try is to run a can of Forte diesel conditioner through it at the next service. Put it straight in the fuel filter and drive the car hard through low gears. She'll smoke like an E Class frigate on start up, but it will clear in 10 minutes. Replace the fuel filter afterwards and top it up with fresh diesel before installing.

Thanks for the suggestions , I put a bottle of Red X through the car ,and removed and cleaned the EGR it was clogged but not blocked . Im still only getting about 500 to a tank maybe less .
Theres no codes in the fault memory , however Im not thinking the fuel tempature sensor could be faulty and not reading the correct tempature and causing the car to oveer fuel , is this likley or am I barking up the wrong tree ?
