Hi Guys. This is just a quick post to help anyone out there that may need it. I had a problem with my Audi A4 (B5 Quattro 1995) heater blower not working, so i fixed it. Just in case any of you guys need the info, i thought i'd share it.

The symptoms started as a clicking noise from the blower itself, then it stopped working. All the LED's were working on the climate control, but no air was coming from the vents. It really is a quick and easy fix, even if you're not too mechanically minded.

Step One. Remove the glove box cover on the left side to reveal the 8mm bolts holding the box in. There are 5 in all.(See Pic). Remove these and lower the glovebox carefully, as the wires for the light is still connected. Un plug these 2 wires, and remove the glovebox.

Step Two. Look up under the dash and you will find the blower. There are 4 philips screws holding it in place. You'll need a short one for the top screw. Un plug the 2 wires and remove the screws, then gently remove the blower.

Step Three. Once the blower is removed, there are 3 rubbers around the fan housing, push these in whilst pulling the motor from the case. Once done, you'll find 2 clips on the side. Carefullly remove the clips one at a time to reveal the brushes for the stator. They will be worn. They can be replace in one of 2 ways.

Either unsolder, and remove them, and solder in new ones, or, file the old ones down, and cut the wires from the new brushes before installing them in their slide. Simply replace the old ones to keep the new ones in place. Remember, to file an angle on the new ones before installation.

Do this for both brushes, and re install using the reverse method for removal.

In total this job took me 15 minutes from start to finish.

I hope this helps, as there's nothing worse than losing your heater in the winter. Good luck guys, and i wish you all a merry xmas.

    Chris.
