    Hello Everyone,

I am a new member of the forum - how well organised this interesting website is!

You will notice from my brief profile that amongst my interests is one for U-boats. This actually includes the German Navy in general and also Wilhelmshaven, on the cold north coast of Germany, in particular.

From 1955 - 1957, as a teenager, I went to Prince Rupert School, Wilhelmshaven (opened 1947, closed 1972 and moved to Rinteln - still there). This was a comprehensive, co-educational boarding school for children of members of the British forces (my father was in the RAF) and was housed partly in the barracks previously used by the U-boat crews.

I wasn't interested in this naval association at the time (my interests were work, food and girls - not necessarily in that order!), but I am now. Is there anyone else in the forum with the same (in my case, somewhat obsessional) interest in U-boats and/or Wilhelmshaven? If so, please let me know. Thanks.

    Best wishes,
    John

We've got a U-boat in Wirral, it was part of a warship colletion which has since shut, but I believe they're going to use the u-boat as a part of another exhibition.

I never got to go round it (they did occassional trips round it), hopefully I will when they move it.
