Hi all am after your opinions. I ordered, a couple of months ago, the following for March delivery:

    Audi A6 2.0 TDI S Line Multitronic
    Panther black
    Heated seats
    Folding wing mirrors

Will be a business contract hire over 3 years and am happy with the deal

My current lease car is a Merc C350 CDi Sport Auto. Was going to get an E Class but the look and feel of the A6 swung it for me.

Even though the deal is done I am curious about a few things with the wait and hope I can gain your opinions

I was originally going to ge the SE but decided the S Line looked better and as it was only another £8 per month it was a no brainer. Was concerned about the firm suspension but found it fine on the test drive. Am gettingthe standard S Line 18 inch wheels. Certainly no firmer than my C class but would appreciate opinions generally and also from anyone who can compare to C Class Sport.

Multitronic - have read what I can find on the Internet about it but opinion seems to be divided. I found it fine on the test drive but would appreciate owners views. Some of what I have read seemed to say it is fine for normal driving but is not as good as a regular auto or S tronic if you want to push on. Am I right that in D mode it behaves like a CVT but in S mode it goes through 8 simulated gears like a conventional auto. Am not against manual cars but I am 6 foot 5 and found the clutch pedal on manual versions too offset towards the centre.

Engine size - Did not ask the price of the 204 3 litre version but imagine it would have been about 50 or 60 pounds a month extra. The C350 I currently have is pretty quick but heavier on fuel than I would like and you can rarely use all that power. Do other 2 litre multi owners find the engine ok. I assume it can get up to 80 or 90 fine and not feel strained when cruising at those speeds. Is anyone able to quote what revs it is doing at those speeds.

Do the optional folding door mirrors fold automatically when you lock the car?

Does the Volcana leather wear well. My Merc's leather is quite hard and not so luxurious but still looks almost like new. I have read that the Milano leather in the SE is harder wearing.

Can you open the boot from the key and/or the inside of the car
Is drive select more than a gimmick and does anyone have any recommendations on what setting to use

Can you stream audio from an iPhone with the standard audio system

Can I just say..........you'll be fine, relax and enjoy your new motor when you get it.

I can only comment on multitronic and tdi combo, albeit my older 2007 version. It's different, but you'll adapt to it. If you want to waft along at low revs, you can do. If you want to make progress, pop it into S an off you go.

It won't be a rocket ship ( hopefully you realised that when you ordered a 2.0 in a large car) but its more than fast enough for UK roads. Mine's only a lumpy old Tdi 140 PD but here in south-east England I don't need any more speed. Motorway cruising in silence at a ton is plenty.

Enjoy it when it arrives! I've had mine from new an never regretted it ever!

Welcome and I am sure you will enjoy the car when it arrives, the wait will be really hard though. I have a 2.0TDi Manual SE Avant but will try and answer some of your questions.

The 2.0 is fine, it is only c30bhp and 20Nm of Torque behind the 3.0 FWD (bit different when compared to the engine in the 3.0 Quattro) and happily cruises at 80-90

Do the optional folding door mirrors fold automatically when you lock the car?
I don't have them but others have reported that this is selectable via the Central Locking menu in MMI, although it seems many salesmen don't know it!

Can you open the boot from the key and/or the inside of the car
Yes and Yes. There is a button on the key to release the boot and also a switch on the driver's door. If you are getting the saloon then (I believe) it springs open, if you are getting the Avant it simply releases the catch and has to be opened manually unless you specify the electric tailgate

Is drive select more than a gimmick and does anyone have any recommendations on what setting to use
On the manual definitely as it only adjusts the power steering and accelerator response so really has little affect. On autos it also adjusts the shift pattern so probably has more of an impact. I tend to just leave it in Auto

Can you stream audio from an iPhone with the standard audio system
Yes you can stream audio from your iPhone via Bluetooth. If however you have AMI and get the new cable (not suitable for an iPhone 5 as yet) then when connected via the cable you also get the album art to display and can play videos (when vehicle is stationary) that have been added to the phone via iTunes. Of course the other advantage of the cable is that it charges the iPhone as well, but there is a 12v socket in the front armrest where the AMI interface would be so you can always charge the phone using a USB lighter plug and your iPhone cable

    Hope this helps.

I would say that Multitronic is different to a standard automatic (which is what I'v had in the last 3 cars I have owned) - it's ok for normal driving, but it tend to rev a lot at low speeds, when climbing even very shallow slopes... and sometime it seems to make the engine rev for no reason what so ever - but overall it's ok.

S-line suspension - in older Audis the s-lie suspension was very firm, but I think in the A6, it seems to be fine - yes a bit firmer but it's ok - I would say it is maybe a bit too firm on badly maintained roads in towns, bit on A roads and motorways it smooth enough.

There is an option in the MMI to allow the folding mirrors to fold when the car is locked. One small difference from my previous cars is that the mirrors dont fold back until you start the engine - so you cant really use the folded mirrors as an indicator that the car is locked - so if you happen to lock the car and then unlock it to get something that the kids/wife forgot to take out, then you have to double check that the car is actually locked, since the mirrors have not unfolded when the car was unlocked...

I have not had my car long enough to comment on how well the leather in the s-line will last - but cant really see a reason why it should be any worse than the leather I have had in my previous cars - which typically I had for four years (100k miles).

I paid the extra to got for the 3.0 TDI engine, so cant really comment on how the 2.0 TDi performs, but I believe that the general view is that the 2.0TDi is more than capable of coping, since the body is in relative terms lighter than other similar size cars like BMW and Mercs

Overall I am very happy with my Audi - I did look at the Merc and BMW and while there are pros and cons with all cars, I think on balance the Audi A6 is the best of the bunch

I test drove a C220 Sport about a year ago when I was looking to change my car. Compared with the A6 the ride in the C was quite choppy. I think (hope) you will find the A6 quite comfortable.

Can't give any advice here, sorry. Mine is a manual.

The 2.0 is lighter than the 3.0, which claws back some of the power difference in terms of their relative performance. I find mine is never found wanting or left feeling underpowered. I can't say what revs the multitronic would be at when doing 80 or 90 - mine is a manual.

Yes - there is an option to set or unset this in the Locking menu in the MMI.

After 11,000 miles and seven months, my seats still look pristine. Audi interiors are of a very high quality.

I tend to leave mine in Dynamic these days. If I am feeling very laid back, I sometimes select Efficiency, but not very often.

Yes. This is available on both cars with the standard RMC system or the optional MMI 3G system. It is a very neat feature.

    Cheers!

No and even if you could find away to add the graphics the Audi system (like, I am pretty sure, all of the other OEM Sat Nav systems) does not have any form of proximity alert system that you get with TomTom etc, so it would be purely visual and thus you would have to keep looking at the screen to see if there was a camera nearby making it very unsafe
