After much deliberation and soul searching I'm really seriously thinking of biting the bullet and treating myself a used C7 Audi. It will be the most I've ever spent on a car, but I've saved hard and have the cash, and it will hopefully be the family car for many years to come. I've seen a few on the Used Audi Approved, which are quite nicely specced 61 plates for around £21-22K.

    I've a few questions:

    1. A lot of the cheaper cars tend to be quite a distance away. If I was seriously interested in buying, would they bring them to a closer Audi dealer for viewing/Test drive?

    2. I'd be looking to part exchange my old '98 Audi A6. Not worth much I know, but would Audi take part exchanges?

    3. Are the prices listed negotiable? If so, on a car priced around £21-22K what is reasonable to knock the price down to?

    4. Any other tips you may have!

    1. Yes, you can buy a "far away" car through your local dealer. Just speak to a sales rep and they can bring the car down, usually for a small deposit (£100). Belfast Audi were prepared to bring a car from the mainland for that price for a test drive/view.

    2. Yes, you can part-ex anything.

    3. Yes, depending on the sales rep and the time of the month prices are very negotiable. I got £2.5k knocked off my A3 and £4k off my A6 back in 2009. Go near the end of the month as the rep's will need to meet their sales targets and are more open to leeway on price.

    4. No real tips, just remember theres more than one car out there so don't decide straight away.
