Ok, so this is a continuation of my previous post - but this is a simple question that hopefully leads to a simple answer why my AFN tdi is running so crap.

I am fitting a new timing belt, and checking cam and pump timing as I go - the car needed a belt and it won't idle smoothly and has no power. With the pump locking pin on place and the cam bar in place, there is a zero right on the bottom of the window to the flywheel - nearest the N/S wing. Thing is, my Autodata instructions seem to say the zero should be at the other end of the window - nearest the centre of the car not the N/S wing - and that then puts a little '-' mark on the other end. This seems to make sense, and will mean that the timing is currently about a tooth out! What I don't want to do is make this asumption, time it up, re-assembe, start it up and bend my valves!

Can someone please confirm where the '0' should be!

Photos would be great - have found a few online, but not of an auto AFN in an A4!

Thanks in advance

Nik
