    I'm really suffering from this as I do lots of motorway mileage. Any idea how I can protect my A6 from this, it's a pain to clean afterwards.

    Before you treat it with a wax or other form of protection you might want to use a product such as Tardis to remove the tar. Also Iron-X will remove the small bits of metal that will have inevitably got onto the car (and the wheels) as well and allow you to get a really clean and smooth finish to the car.
