    Hi All

Picked up my lovely 2008 A6 Le Mans at the weekend with the 3.0 tdi engine (Quattro).

I have no reason to suspect there is an issue but I would like to know how to use VCDS to establish the health of the DPF before I start thinking about possibly getting the car remapped or chipped.

I presume there are some measuring blocks I could read with pre/post DPF exhaust pressures. Where would I find these and what sort of figures should they be?

from what I have read these DPFs can be a right pain

you may or may not have a dpf - look at the option sticker in your spare wheel well or the inside cover of your service book for the code 7GN - if you have this you DONT have a dpf

what month is your a6 registered in?

It's on a 57 plate so presumably Jan or Feb 2008. I am sadly away from my car this week but might get the misses to take a picture of the options sticker. Fingers crossed I may not have one of the buggers!

Just to get an idea though I referred to my notes when I had the options decoded from my older 2005 2.7tdi. It DOES have 7GN and this decodes as "Emission standard, EU4, DPF preparation".

So does DPF preparation mean it does, or doesn't have DPF? Confused...

DPF prep means NO dpf is fitted and with it being a 57 plate I'm 99.99% sure it wont have one.

My car was registered 31st Jan 2008 (made Dec 2007) and has an ASB engine fitted and it has no dpf

Out of curiosity - your reg doesn't start NH57 does it?

Excellent, thanks. I hope you're right. It's funny though that I had my last A6 for 7 years and I was convinced it had a DPF.

Nope, not my car - its ET57 (for now... Then it will be A6 something )

Will get the options from my current car and let you know what I find.

Id feel much happier about remapping it with 99k on the clock than if it did have a DPF.

No problemo - was just asking out of curiosity as the previous owner (company) who had my car before me had a fleet of A6 Le Mans (all Jan 2008) and would be interesting to see where they all are.

I'm trying to get my initials and A6 somewhere in the plate but I would be expecting to pay ££££.

I'm pretty sure it wont have one, just look out for 7GN just like my sticker below

    Hi

I too write from Spain... until I fly home later today

How can you tell that you have DPF? I wouldn't really know what to look for. Is it like a catalytic convervter under the car?

    Hi peeps ....

Vag codes concerning DPF's here... Link:- Question Choosing a fresh car.....help required - Page 3

Some info in here what DPF prep mean... Link:-2008 3.0TDI Engine Vs Facelift 3.0TDI Engine

My reasoning behind DPF prep feature in facelift was to allow DPF if a specific country required one for emissions purposes...

    Concerning VCDS ref Link:- 3.0l V6 TDI (BKS/BMK/BUN) - Ross-Tech Wiki

    MVB 100, 101, 102, 103, 104, 107 ...

This is all the info I dug up when looking at bits like this...
