Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum. I've just bought a 2.0 tdi auto c6 model car and I can only get 33mpg. The funny thing is I've just sold my Toyota landcruiser jeep which had a 3.0 tdi engine and 4x4 and I would get 33 on a long run? For me it's just not good enough from audi. I can remember my brother buying a brand new a6 in 1999, and this would do 48mpg as a 1.9 tdi. This mean audi going backwards I'm afraid. Wish I did more research now. Now my brother drives a 520d msport and he gets 45mpg. Makes the audi look a bit dated I think? It's got full audi service history, and has recently been serviced. Any suggestions how to improve mpg? Thanks in advance. Jonathan.

has that been taken from the dash display or from brimming the tank ?
what sort of driving does it involve.
a diagnostic check looking at live readings would be in order to confirm that everything is doing what it should.

What sort of driving are you doing when you get 33 mpg? Is this from the dash? Did you reset the dash after you bought the car to reflect your own driving style? I do mixed motorway / city driving weekly and achieve on average 43 to 45mpg.

I'm with Zolaff you need to zero the trip and the fuel computer fill to the brim and record mileage then calculate the MPG if it's the same then start looking at other reasons, before making any decisions

    Hey Zollaf,

yes, when i got the car I filled it up and the reset the display. I did about 400 miles over the weekend and that is what it averaged. The driving was long distance, 70mile trips etc on fairly good roads. Thanks for the suggestion, Im back to Ireland where the car is at xmas so I will check it out at the nearest Audi garage. Thanks for the reply.

    Hi Kinlongso,

I have only done approx 400 miles in it on a recent trip home to Ireland. The runs were approx 70 miles plus on good roads. I filled the tank when I got it, and reset the trip. I plan on bringing the car to London in new year where I guess the mpg can only get worse. I must bring it to a Audi garage as suggested by another user. Maybe something is wrong. Glad to hear yours is achieving good mpg

something isn't right. as others have said, you should see more than that. there may be an electrical fault such as the amm (airflow meter) or a coolant sensor playing up, or even something as silly as a dirty airfilter.
