Hi all ... thanks for all the support guys ... starting to strip car further than last night and beginning to store items...

The sunroof rails even after all night car being outside and today with rain happening have very little water which is only located in far left/right corners at front near the drain holes...
No other areas of rails in sunroof wet or show any sign of water...

A friend came around to see what I was upto he was shocked to see car in pieces again... he also feels it has to the AC condensate water...

All door seals are fine... when removed show no sign of water passing under or over them... where electrics come in from plenum chamber to interior are all dry show no sign of water...

Drains in plenum chamber are also clear... most of area is very dry... showing no sign of water rise etc... only very little or some dribbles of water...

Removed AC pollen filter all dry... so going to strip, hose/use pressure washer in key areas (just like last time)...

If no water ingress going to replace front seats and rear and not put carpet and any pretty trim back just the minimum to sit and use seatbelts...

That way should see clearly where water coming in from... no extra water since last nite but as it was not fully dried can not tell...

Will keep you guys updated... will later post photos/video of stripped interior... I find it hard to believe water is coming in from a bodywork repair to car... maybe someone else will see something in video/photos that I'm missing...

My mate's first words when he started viewing car he said " I can't believe all these issues you've had... it all looks so shiny/clean in engine bay/bodywork/interior..."

Another friend who has an A4 Avant 55 plate 3.0 TDi with about 130k miles confided in my wife, he said"Oh I don't know what to say to G... I don't even wanna say how little my car has cost in upkeep and how unproblematic my ownership of over 6 years has been"

So the saga continues with Zesty the A6 - the most lemon of A6's...

At least you have managed to tick off several places where water usually comes from. I think you are right and start looking at AC and possibly the pipes and matrix areas. Good luck fella.

    Cricky Gup,

When will it all end? Sorry to hear this has now happened.
On top of what others have said, could it be coming from rear wheelarch and dripping down, say upper suspension mount as you drive in the rain?

Does your child have a water bottle that could have leaked? That one got me worried a few years back!

From all your previous testing it just maybe something that only happens when driving so dont rule anything out.

If all else fails you mentioned driving it into a river with the idle issue, could fix both in one go!

Only kidding but keep at it and hopefully it will be cheap and simple.

    Good luck.

Right guys not had chance to do video... just like the weather been a miserable day ... getting wet... removing bits from car... my neighbours must think what a sucker ...

My wife asked do you think you can fix her... ... it has truly been a relentless ownership of issue after issue ...

Christmas is looming and I'm fart assing around with this mess again! ...

Ahh well heres some more pics... I cleared space in a flat I don't use... please note this is the drivers side carpet...

and now the passenger side ...

Now I've removed 5 - 6 L of water already... look at the marks on floor, still so much water in sponge... you can see the staining from previous issues... this was there when I first had this issue back in Aug 11...
Note how the sections of sponge with the shaping inserts has torn and last time I used duct tape to hold those section in... price new IIRC is about £400 best I've found is over a £100 from Germany on ebay...

Close up front section passenger side...

Close up mid section passenger side...

Close up rear section passenger side...

    The bluetooth module casing...

So I've been lucky this has not yet blown ... but for how long?

What do I do with this car? ... somebody do the maths Aug 11 I paid £10k... to date £5k+ to resolve various issues/service... without equating fuel tax and insurance... all this is cash no finance/credit... would I have not been better off got a new one on finance? I'm looking at cars in Autotrader for £15k and they are within the range of 3 years old... I've lost out big time ...

My wife said what if we did not have the money to pay for these fixes? what if I had not done so many things at home like service,etc... what would be the cost of 2-3 times getting this water issue done @ Audi or Indi?

I think really gotta cut my losses and flog this car ... I have no faith left in it ... never had a car which has needed so much attention ...
