    After looking at the engine of my 2006 Audi A6 3.0 TDI Quattro, i was wondering how many things were actually changed on the engine itself. As in parts. So i stumbled upon a few 'numbers' lol. If someone could tell me what they mean and what they're from i'd be forever grateful.

    Here it goes:

    {
    Werk : 026
    Date : 100806
    Line: 2
    Part : 059 064 CA
    }

    059 129 086 M > I've got 2 of those? both have years 2010 on them? I have no idea what it is nor why it was changed.

    I've also managed to record some very scary things ( at least theyre scary for me ) under the hood. Seems like carbon deposit around one of the hoses, also what i believe it to be an oil leak of some sort. Will upload video in about 30 mins. I'd appreciate if someone could tell me is it anything i should be worried about or not.

    Yes i certainly remember. I've been driving mine as it is. Still waiting for the first snow to fall on the mountains to get my GPs changed. When that gets done i'll probably book it in for gearbox oil change etc...
    I am following the threads as much as possible. Sad i can't contribute much. Long hours at work.... :-(

    On your sticker:- Date = Production date of 10/08/2006

    My best guesses on rest:- Werk = Production plant 26, Line = Production line 2, Part = Your base engine part no

    I have that on mine... it was there before I had work on on engine... I can't remember if that was cleaned after work done... but will check my video... but I consider that normal...

    Look at below video... pause at point 0:07...

    You will note on turbo there is black pipe from air filter box... that is the fresh air... the silver pipe with the rubber union is the charge pressure/air from the turbo...
    The other pipes from engine becoming one and going into turbo is the exhaust gases to make turbo spin...

    Google for SSP 350 &/or SSP 325...

    Are you losing oil rapidly? if not it may just be ingress from age/use of engine and not anything to worry about...

    I'm not lying when i say this, im going to sleep like a baby tonight because my worries have somewhat vanished. thanks so much on the info. Makes sense now. Its just that when i was purchasing this car, all my family and friends were advising to go and get a brand new VW Golf for the same price, i insisted on the A6. More than happy with the decision, its just now im scared the previous owner didn't reveal to me any major problems or even minor ones. Here in Australia the VW AUDI dealers are a rip off. A new A6 3.0 TDI QUATTRO would cost approx $120k AUD. Convert that into pounds or euros and you'll see what i mean. Services cost in excess of $600 ( basic ). Previous owner advised to take it to a VW dealer, he thought i'd have more luck with them. They wanted to charge him $1000 for changing his battery in the boot, even tho it didn't need changing. Its ridiculous. Really. Good VW/AUDI mechanics in Australia are rare as hens teeth.

    Thumbs up for the video of the engine. Looks remarkable.

    I've done full service at home, all pads & discs... AMI, DAB & Graphical PDC retro... twice had interior out bar the roof trim and dash... front & rear bumper off for various checks, realignments, etc...

    I've seen engine bay stripped... viewed chassis underneath several times...

    I lack experience but will help with anything I can , just like all the other great poster's here on VWAF!... the many are strong!

    Any P/N's, PDF's, photos, videos you wish to have to make comparison/use for servicing PM or post thread...

    WE can't let our down under pal's down can we!

    They are well built cars, design is good, features are stonking... too many times I've been to drive other brand car (& owned in past)...

    IMO the A6 rocks especially with a 3.0 TDi/Tip/Quattro... no wonder my bank accounts been emptying rapidly to keep it

    Those stains look normal to me I think if there was anything to worry about they'd be shiny like fresh oil stains

    Here we are, i recorded this with a Go Pro Hero2 camera. You can see on acceleration it 'wobbles' a tiny bit. Also when decelerating you can see how erratic it is. I can feel it get worser. It actually slows down the car and then makes it go faster- all in 2 seconds. Also when im standstill i can hear every second a thump. Very strange sound. It is coming from the engine also. But it happens in regular intervals. When scanned with scanner no erros apart from battery regulator and coolant thingy. Still waiting for my own scanner lol

Would that somehow have anything to do with the weird bubbling sound? Any help appreciated!
    Sounds like a blocked Plenum drain.
