Hi folks. I thought I'd post up my first issue since buying the car a few weeks back, and get off the one-post-wonder status...

My Mk V TDI 140 has ESP, but I am able to spin the wheels in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd (for test purposes you understand). The light on the dash comes on, but this is the extent of the ECU's interest in my tyre-shredding activities. I presumed that unless I de-activate ESP and/or TC, that this shouldn't happen. Is there potentially a fault? Has a previous owner perhaps de-activated something?

This is my first car with traction control, so forgive me if I am missing something obvious.

    Thanks.

That's what I'd have expected... But should it not coincide with it stopping the wheelspin?

Does it sound like the ABS is on when you're shredding rubber?

Pretty good. Incidentally, i don't have a problem with driving without it, but I'm interested as to why it's doing what it does.

It just seems like regular wheelspin, but i might let it spin a bit longer next time and see if anything does cut in.

Why are you spinning it on purpose?

Just drive the car normally and let the computers do their thing.

btw if there was a fault within the esp system the dashboard would display the icon permenantely while driving without hitting the button.

Get the car scanned with VCDS if it's broken fix it otherwise just wait and enjoy it on a slippery street
