Pros and cons of re mapping VW Passat 07 170tdi?

Hi i am keen to know if having the 170 tdi re mapped will cure the flatness i experience at low revs, ie below 1800rpm.Above this the car pulls like a train, also fuel economy is not great 35-38mpg.Be nice if this could be improved by a remap. If any of you have got the same model and have had experience of a re map please pass on your experiences so that i will have some informed choice as to what to do with my little gem

A remap can improve low end power and torque, remove any flat spots and also improve fuel consumption.

I used to own the 170 and the fuel consumption improved by 20% after the remap.

Hi there mate thinking of doing the same thing to my passat tdi 170 sel on a dsg gearbox. Can you guys point out good remap places and how much it would cost and the gains I'd be looking at. I'd be looking for a good full economy map hopefully.

ive just got my self the 170 also, did any one map theres? what about the DPF?
