Ive read in some forums people say it is possible. Kinda have my heart set on a6 avant but it'll only work if I can fit 3 young children in the back. Is the middle seat really that narrow? Have any of you guys tried?

Yes, it's really that narrow. We have three children; 2 days, 2 years and 4 years and I've been going through the same dilemma. We currently have a Discovery 3 and an A6 C6 Avant; the A6 is no longer the family car...

I had tried to fit an ISOFIX rear facing seat, a high backed booster seat and a Group 2 seat but there's no way they fit. I have heard that Volvo do/did narrow car seats but I haven't been able to verify that or source any. I'd love to hear if anyone has managed to find differently to me because my wife gets sick as a passenger in the Disco and there's no way I'm going to let her drive, we'd never get anywhere!

There are these of course but they are expensive... www.multimac.co.uk

Hi Chris, do you know what the car is then? As mod have you come across my question. Can 3 seats fit in rear or even would 1 in front,1 in rear outer n1 in middle leave room for adult passenger behind driver?

I really don't want an espace or picasso type thing

It's a C5 by the looks of it, the previous model. You won't fit an adult passenger in the middle between two child seats for anything longer than local journeys unless they are really small and skinny. It's the side bolsters of the rear bench that make it impractical because they push the seats towards the middle. If the backrest was flatter it might work better.

BTW in that photo you posted the seat belt anchor that I can see is wrapped around the seat and I suspect, but cant see, that buckles for the car seats are not straight either. if they are not then they are liable to suffer from buckle crunch in a crash. I'm not convinced that the photo shows a safe configuration.

I completely synmpathise with you because I already have an A6 and I cannot fit three seats in with the both of us in any safe way and I'm not the only one, I've been researching it and trying it out for ages. You could look at a Phaeton or an A8 if you don't need the estate?
